Big Papi Patriotic About Whole Nation, Not Just the Sox Part

Big Papi, one of my favorite Boston Red Sox players, has officially become a citizen of the American nation, not just of Red Sox Nation, according to media reports.

The Sox designated splendid splinter -- currently nursing an injury -- attended a luncheon at the Kennedy Library in Boston before taking the oath of citizenship accompanied by his wife, two of his children (ages 7 and 3), his father, and the president of the Boston Red Sox organization, the Boston Globe said.
The Associated Press quoted Ortiz as saying: "My whole family, kids, and everyone have been born here. It's a great country, proud to be here, now proud to be a part of it."

"He is the personification of what a great citizen should be," Red Sox president Larry Lucchino told the Boston Herald. "He’s the heart and soul of Red Sox Nation."

Amen.
